Our time
going to the earthquake village went great! No checkpoints or
security problems, every seat on our bus was filled, over 40 kids
loved the Children’s Olympics…everything we asked you to pray for He
answered.

we arrived
at the village this afternoon, getting to know local people and
kids. Condition is worse than expected, no power and running water.
7 brothers squeeze in a small room, same with 7 sisters. We will
start class tomorrow with about 30 kids, but no classroom available,
kitchen and open space is the temporary classroom… anyhow kids are
very excited to see us, though a bit scary, we are all in a good
mood.

No one on
May 12—not even geologists—had reason to suspect the time bomb that
was silently ticking beneath their feet. One minute later, the earth
shook violently.
As monstrous spasms convulsed the landscape, massive cement
buildings were crushed like egg shells. Tragically, thousands of men, women, and
children would never emerge from the debris.
At one school, almost 900 children—all eighth and ninth
graders—were instantly buried. Elsewhere, buried teenagers struggled to free
themselves from the ruins while others were crying for help. As dazed parents
stumbled in search of their children in the hours that followed, at least seven
more earthquakes rocked the area.

I had heard that among a
minority ethnic race “______” in (__province__), over 80% are
Believers. I had the opportunity to visit (__province__) in person.
Before starting out on the trip, I neither knew the place that I was
about to visit nor was aware that I am no longer a 30 year old. Not
recognizing my own physical limitation, I requested the tour guide
to take me to his village. We spent half day on a train, then on a
bus and then on a car and then got on a boat sailing down the
(__River__).
